Mextròpoli Pavillion
Competition, 2019
The Pavillion is dome shapecoverage of 114 m2 around the Mercury Fountain.
It is built with one of the beautiful and most representative element of Mexico: the natural basket.
It is made of a very resistent material, called Sisal, obtained by the cultivation of AGAVE and traditionally used to make ropes, baskets and carpets.
The baskets are connected one to the other with the same system used to make them: tiing the wires of Sisal.
All the baskets used for the structure can ve re-used because they will not be ruined by the pavillion contruction phases.
Corning from the Calle Doctor Mora, you suddenly feel inside a new quiet space in which you can sit around the fountain looking the splashes of water and feeling the light of the sun filtering throught the baskets.
